Winter Lighting

 

 Starfish Lighting Campaign

Everyone agrees that our lighted "Stars of Seaside" add a special glow throughout the downtown area. In 2001, the Seaside Downtown Development Association started a new and exciting concept in winter lighting. SDDA, along with several downtown businesses, invested in the "Stars of Seaside" starfish lights. These unique lights are made just for Seaside. In 2007, with their increasing popularity, we decided to keep them up year 'round, highlighting our beautiful and unique shops in downtown Seaside.
 
In a wonderful partnership with the Providence Seaside Hospital Foundation, the SDDA raises funds at the annual Hot Rod Golf Tournament to help towards the campaign of stars.

Thank you, to all the volunteers who help maintain them, the City of Seaside for providing the opportunity, and to the community for enjoying and supporting them.

SDDA also hangs a lighted swag across Broadway at Holladay to usher in the holiday season. It features starfish (of course !) and fish and moving bubbles and brightens up the entrance to downtown!

Lighted Cedar Boughs

Each November, volunteers gather along with SDDA, to string lights on 118 freshly-made cedar boughs. After the lights are attached, more volunteers take to the streets of downtown Seaside, hanging the boughs on light poles not already adorned with our Star Fish lights. When they're finished, the downtown area is ready for the holidays with sparkling lights every where you look!

 

A Winter Wonderland in the Downtown Pocket Park

Every year for the holiday season, SDDA creates a winter wonderland in the Pocket Park just west of the Carousel Mall. Hundreds of lights are wrapped around the tree trunks and light poles. There are even lights in the trees! it is a lovely spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holidays!

All of these projects are part of SDDA'a mission to bring people to downtown to enhance the environmental and economic viability of downtown Seaside for the local community and visitors.
